Abstract
Magistrsko delo z naslovom Koncept preteklega v fenomenu sodobne umetnosti raziskuje načine uporabe preteklih umetniških slogov in kako so bili ti uporabljeni tako v zgodovini kot v sodobnem času. Sodobna umetnost kot dinamično področje se nenehno vključuje in odziva na različne zgodovinske vplive. Umetniki se pogosto sklicujejo in raziskujejo preteklost kot sredstvo za razumevanje sedanjosti in preoblikovanje razumevanja preteklosti. Umetniki lahko prevzamejo vizualne elemente, motive ali materiale iz določenih zgodovinskih obdobij, da ustvarijo dialog med preteklostjo in sedanjostjo. Izbrana tema je na nek način izziv konvencionalnim predstavam o napredku in izvirnosti ter poudarja kontinuiteto in medsebojno povezanost umetniških tradicij. Pomemben vidik preteklih umetniških slogov oziroma obdobij sta reinterpretacija in podiranje zgodovinskih preprek, strategije uporabe pa se razpenjajo vse od apropriacije in revizionizma do dekonstrukcije, navsezadnje pa se nam skozi takšna umetniška dela vedno ponudi alternativna perspektiva. Tudi uporaba tehnologije je pomembno vplivala na koncept preteklosti v sodobni praksi. Ne le skozi množico virov, ampak tudi v obliki digitalnih medijev, ki omogočajo široko polje informacij. Koncept zgodovine v sodobni praksi likovne in vizualne umetnosti je tako večplasten in bogat. Umetniki se ukvarjajo z zgodovino, da bi ustvarili povezave in raziskovali kompleksnost človeškega doživljanja. Z uporabo zgodovinskih referenc, reinterpretacije in integracije tehnologije ponujajo nove perspektive na preteklost in njeno relevantnost za sodobno družbo. Recepcijo in interpretacijo zgodovinske umetnosti oblikujejo družbeni dejavniki in individualne izkušnje gledalcev. Razumevanje koncepta zgodovinske umetnosti v pojavih sodobne umetnosti pa ponuja vpogled v dinamičen odnos med zgodovino, umetniškim izražanjem in nenehnim razvojem človeške ustvarjalnosti.

Abstract:
MA thesis titled The concept of the past in the phenomenon of contemporary art, explores the ways in which past artistic styles have been used both in history and in contemporary times. Contemporary art, as a dynamic field, constantly engages with and respond to various historical influences. Artist often reference and explore the past as a means of understanding the present and reshaping our understanding of history. Artists may adopt visual elements, motifs, or materials from specific historical periods to create a dialogue between the past and the present. The chosen topic of the thesis challenges conventional notion of progress and originality, emphasizing the continuity and interconnectedness of artistic traditions. A significant aspect of past artistic styles or periods is the reinterpretation and dismantling of historical barriers, employing strategies ranging from appropriation and revisionism to deconstruction, ultimately offering alternative perspectives. The use of technology has also significantly impacted the concept of the past in art in contemporary practice. Not only trough the abundance of sources but also trough digital media, which opens a wide range of information. Trough the use of historical references, reinterpretations, and the integration of technology, they offer new perspectives on the past and its relevance to contemporary society. The reception and interpretation of historical art are shaped by societal factors and the individual experiences of viewer. Understanding the concept of historical art in the phenomena of contemporary art provides insights into the dynamic relationship between history, artistic expression, and the continuous development of human creativity.
