Introduction: edentulousness is today an increasingly common phenomenon faced by modern dentistry and is treated by replacing teeth with partial dentures. With the help of partial dentures we can successfully treat partial endentulousness. The goal of removable partial dentures is to restore function and appearance, thereby preserving remaining tissues in the oral cavity. Metal base scan can be produced with the help of CAD/CAM technology. Stereolitograpy (SLA) is an additive technology with the help of which we 3D- print planned objects and later cast them. Selective laser melting (SLM) is an additive technology in which powdered material is sintered in layers, ensuring high precision. For the successful operation of the company, it is necessary for the company to set prices accurately to ensure existence. The cost price of the product is the sum of all costs caused by the product or service. The basic components of cost price are costs of materials, services, labor, indirect production, production costs, administration and sales costs. Purpose: purpose of this thesis is to present the technology of selective laser melting (SLM) and stereolitography (SLA). In the practical part of this thesis, we made two metal bases, made with the help of SLA and SLM technology and calculated the cost price of both of the products and determine which one is more affordable for dental laboratory. Methods: the theoretical part is written after a review of Slovenian and foreign literature. We used Google Scholar, PubMed, Science Direct, Research Gate to help us search for literature. Results: We made metal base in dental laboratory using SLA technology, and recieved another metal base, made by SLM technology from the milling center. Discussion and conclusion: the cost price of both metal bases, made by SLA and SLM technology differs for 15€, but the major difference is in the massive time savings if the metal base is made by SLM technology. Time saving in our case was measured for 122 minutes. The time saving allows the laboratory dental technician to focus on production of other dental replacements while the metal base is being manufactured in the milling center.
