The Slovenian Cinema-library is a national museum and as such represents our cultural heritage. The collection of archival material preserved there is part of the world's and our film history and is important for modern society. As film materials have different chemical and physical properties, their sustainability depends on environmental parameters and they therefore require different storage conditions. For this purpose, we examined the existing situation in the Slovenian Cinema-library archive and carried out the necessary measurements. We have presented the possible causes and types of decay of individual film materials and demonstrated why proper conditioning and storage prevent their acceleration. The results of the measurements showed that the conditions in the depots are not ideal and, based on the results and data obtained, a proposal was made for proper air conditioning and thus for improving the storage conditions of the film material.
