Abstract
V diplomskem delu predstavljam motiv Leviatana v delih Paula Austerja in Andreja Zvjaginceva. Raziskujem mitski izvor Leviatana in njegov pomen v starodavnih bližnjevzhodnih mitih. Vlogo in simbolizem Leviatana pri Austerju in Zvjagincevu nato interpretiram s pomočjo Biblije in enega od temeljenjih del moderne politične teorije – Leviatana Thomasa Hobbesa.

Title:
The Leviathan motif in Paul Auster and Andrei Zvyagintsev
Abstract:
In my thesis I present the motif of the Leviathan in the works of Paul Auster and Andrey Zvyagintsev. I explore the mythological origins of Leviathan and its significance in ancient Near Eastern myths. I then interpret the role and symbolism of Leviathan in Auster and Zvyagintsev's works with the help of the Bible and one of the foundational works of modern political theory – Thomas Hobbes' Leviathan.
