Abstract
Naloga raziskuje vlogo vzporednih resničnosti v izbranih literarnih besedilih. Uporaba tega posebnega literarnega sredstva je še posebej značilna za znanstvenofantastično literaturo. Prvi del magistrskega dela je namenjen kratki predstavitvi zgodovine znanstvene fantastike kot literarne zvrsti in obravnavi nekaterih literarnoteoretskih analiz tega žanra. V drugem delu sta podrobno analizirani dve literarni besedili: kratka zgodba Prodajalna svetov Roberta Sheckleyja in novela Posebno poročilo Philipa K. Dicka. Izbrani besedili sta najprej naratološko analizirani, potem pa je prikazano, da ravno uporaba elementa vzporedne resničnosti avtorjema obeh del omogoča poglabljanje v nekatera ontološka, epistemološka in etična vprašanja.

Title:Parallel realities in selected science fiction texts and the ontological, epistemological and ethical issues arising from them
Abstract:
This master thesis explores the role of parallel realities in selected literary texts. The use of this specific literary device is particularly characteristic of science fiction literature. First part of the thesis is devoted to a brief presentation of the history of science fiction as a literary genre and discusses some literary-theoretical analyses of the genre. The second part analyzes two literary texts in detail: the short story "The Store of the Worlds" by Robert Sheckley and the novella "The Minority Report" by Philip K. Dick. The selected texts are first analyzed narratologically. Finally, it is demonstrated that the use of the element of parallel reality enables the authors to delve into ontological, epistemological, and ethical questions.

Keywords:American literature, science fiction, Robert Sheckley, Philip K. Dick, parallel realities
