In the field of cattle farming, when we build a new barn or renovate an old one, we increasingly focus on the welfare of the animals, following standards for the microclimate in the barn, the interior design of the barn and the construction of the building. We also pay attention to making people's work easier and safer, while at the same time minimizing the cost of construction the facility, maintenance, operation and equipment purchases. It is also necessary to follow the trends of adapting to climate change, protecting and preserving the environment, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Based on literature, in this paper we have studied the necessary standards for the design of the barn and presented the conceptual plans of different housing systems for suckler cows and calves. Based on the collected data, we have also presented a conceptual plan for the renovation of the existing barn and the construction of an outlet with roof for suckler cows and calves. On the farm Pr' Gregorc we have suckler cows, for which we currently have an old barn available. In 2022, we applied for farm support tenders, and with the help of grants and the data collected in this work, we will realize the construction of an outlet with a roof and the renovation of the barn. By renovating the barn, we will improve the well-being of the animals and at the same time reduce the amount of manual work that must be done in the barn every day.
