In today's world, environmental care has become paramount. Every municipality faces environmental challenges that affect the quality of lif. In this thesis, we delved into the satisfaction with environmental factors in the Municipality of Bovec, wich is increased pressure on its natural resources.
The purpose of this thesis is to present which environmental areas in Slovenia show a deteriorated state. We investigated the legal bases and measures adopted by the European Union for environmental protection, as well as how the environment is protected by Slovenian laws. We examined sustainable environmental management in Slovenia and studied how the Municipality of Bovec manages environmental factors, and how satisfied the citizens are with sustainable environmental management. We conducted a quantitative analysis with an online survey questionnaire. We also studied if the state of environmental factors improves, worsens, or remains the same during the tourist season.
We found that citizens are most satisfied with sustainable management of drinking and wastewater, while their satisfaction is lowest in preserving biodiversity and in the field of sustainable mobility. Results also indicate that, in the opinion of the citizens, most of environmental factors worsen during turistic season.
This thesis serves as a contribution to understanding the field of environmental protection and the development of sustainable management. The obtained results on satisfaction in the Municipality of Bovec can serve as an incentive to address environmental challenges at the local level, aiming to achieve maximum citizen satisfaction.
