This thesis examines the impact of social media on young adults. This idea derives from the hard influence of social media on its users. In order to offer the best possible insight, the interview of social media users based on focus groups was conducted. The significance of this study is to find out what are the reasons for social media presence in young adults’ life, how it is happening a big influence on users’ life, and what problems it causes. Also, from all the above mentioned, the question of excessive use and addiction to it arises. Through qualitative thematic analysis and online focus groups, the results provided such answers that all research problems were legitimately addressed. The impact of social media is huge in both positive and negative contexts. On the one hand, the benefits of social media significantly affect people's lives and in some way positively affect well-being. On the other hand, the same could be abused by its users and cause problems in the same area. With abuse, it comes easily to addictive behavior. The common for all above is the time spent on social media, as well as the purpose of its use. The study showed that social media requires more attention and further examination by competent institutions which are responsible for mental health, addiction, and human rights.
