The master's thesis tries to explain the historical intertwining and conflict of Irish history with Great Britain. The island of Ireland has been oppressed by the English since the Middle Ages. although the Irish have always wanted their own country, the ideas of independence began to become louder in the 19th century. Thus, in the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century, there were major rebellions against the English supremacy. By the end of the First World War, there were encircled conflicts in Ireland between the Irish Brotherhood, the predecessor of the IRE, and the British Army. The war lasts until l. 1921, which was followed by another two-year civil war. although relations strained again by the end of World War II. But in Ireland, the fighting continues after the year of 1972, and this time is known as The Troubles. The assignment explains in more detail two events in Irish history: the assassination of Irish revolutionary Michael Collins and the attempted assassination of British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. At the same time, the assignment describes the various factions of the IRE, the activities of terrorist groups, etc.
