Abstract
Naloga prikaže, kako o stolu razmišljati z arhitekturnimi mehanizmi in ga sooča z vprašanji, tendencami in problematikami arhitekture.

Title:Chair as an Object of Architecture
Abstract:
The thesis examines the fundamental connection between the object of the chair and architecture. The central part of the assignment is dedicated to the introductory question - what kind of chair can be called an architectural object, or rather, when is a chair considered an architectural object? The answer to this question, will demonstrate a specific way of constructing a chair that stems from the discipline of architecture. The assignment shows how to think about the chair with architectural mechanisms and confronts it with questions, tendencies and issues of architecture. Many examples of chairs and buildings are included in the discussion, however, the task is mainly related to and based on the work of the architect Alvar Aalto. The first element of our research is the architecture of the chair - not as a result of technical nor poetic skill, but as a materialized object of their inseparable connection, which affects the perception of the user's senses. The second element is comfort, which, based on Aalto's works, complements the conventional and insufficient perception of sensual, aesthetic and superficial comfort with a mysterious concept of everyday comfort. The third element is awareness and represents the critical thought of the chair's independence from external pressures or the presence of political, economic or other interests. The research provides fundamental elements and complements the directions that architects use when designing chairs, thereby contributing to a more holistic, in-depth and reflective approach to creating chairs as objects of architecture.

Keywords:chair, object of architecture, the enemies of good architecture, mysterious concept of comfort
