Abstract

Title:Estimation of natural disaster risk in the municipality Solčava
Abstract:
Every year, municipalities in the Alpine region are confronted with natural phenomena that threaten people and their property and are therefore considered natural disasters. The tourist and recreational potential of the municipality of Solčava attracts more and more people, while the changeability of the weather causes an increase in the intensity and presence of such phenomena. The thesis is concerned with identifying the pattern of occurrence of natural phenomena in the form of hazard maps and examining their impact on the threat to the population, its property and built infrastructure in the form of hazard analysis maps with simultaneous field verification. The most frequent natural phenomena are landslides and snow avalanches, which, with the exception of the Macesnik landslide, are less intense. Floods, on the other hand, are less frequent but more intense and therefore pose a greater threat to people, their property and built infrastructure.
