Abstract

Title:Corporate governance through the prism of social responsibility and sustainable development
Abstract:
In recent decades, humanity has faced increasing challenges in preserving the planet and ensuring the survival of our own and other species. The European Union has committed itself to becoming the first climate-neutral continent through the European Green Deal. As a result of the globalization process, corporations are having an increasing impact on society and the environment in which they operate. Businesses are not only operating from their business address and are not constrained by national borders, but are also seeking to establish themselves in markets where there is high demand for their activities. Corporate governance is dominated by the interests of maximizing the value of the company for the benefit of the shareholders. The primacy of this objective makes all other interests of the company secondary. In pursuit of these objectives, the European Union has already adopted measures to force companies to become climate neutral by 2050.
