Abstract

Title:Preventive protection of selected endangered objects from the Ljubljana City Museum depot
Abstract:
The aim of the assignment is to highlight the problems of the Ljubljana City Museum depot, which is a part of the Tehnološki park building complex. By graphically presenting the history of recorded data on temperature and relative air humidity inside the depot, we observed an obvious and alarmingly inadequate relative humidity in the summer period, which causes biological, chemical and physical damage to various materials. Using the ASHRAE (The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers) manual and taking into account the five classes of control, we defined the depot as class D, and identified the necessary adjustments in which the depot would advance to class B, which better meets the needs of the stored collections. We also pointed out the possibility of storing quite sensitive objects in microclimates specially designed for this, as well as some practical examples of preserving endangered objects within the collections
