Abstract

Title:Process comparability analysis of bubble formation in nucleate boiling and electrolysis
Abstract:
In the context of global efforts to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and shift to sustainable forms of energy, green hydrogen stands out as a promising alternative. Electrolysis of water using renewable energy is a sustainable way to produce hydrogen due to its high purity, simplicity and green process. One of the main challenges to reducing the energy use of water electrolysis is hydrogen bubbles. During electrolysis, bubbles cover the surface of the electrode, causing the voltage to drop. As a result, electrolysis cannot operate at higher voltages to produce more hydrogen. In the following, the possibility of more efficient removal of hydrogen bubbles from the active surface of the electrode was investigated by comparing boiling and electrolysis. We recorded and analysed the formation of hydrogen bubbles on the active surface of the electrode.
