The main topic of the thesis is the characterization process and the design of a lithium-ion battery cell model, which is an integral part of the electric propulsion system for aircraft. The introductory section provides a general overview of batteries, their development history, and how they are categorized. This is followed by the detailed explanation of lithium-ion batteries and their functionality. The main part describes in detail the measurement procedure process of lithium-ion batteries, which allows us to calculate the parameters. This is followed by the presentation of the battery cell model and description of all battery parameters and how they are calculated. In addition, the algorithm for calculating the state of charge with a Coulomb counter is described. Experimental results of the measurements are presented, as well as the battery model in the program Simulink.
Verification of the model and the comparison with actual cell measurements follows next. Finally, the age of lithium-ion batteries, their degradation over time and the determination of the battery's state of health are presented.
