Abstract
V povprečju imajo tovrstna gospodinjstva registrirane 4 dejavnosti, skupno 103, med katerimi dve tretjini predstavljajo storitve s kmetijsko in gozdarsko mehanizacijo in ročna dela. Ostale skupine dopolnilnih dejavnosti so slabše zastopane. Anketirani kmetje prihodnost vidijo predvsem v prodaji kmetijskih pridelkov in izdelkov s kmetij ter v storitvah s kmetijsko in gozdarsko mehanizacijo.

Title:Development of supplementary activities on farms in the Municipality of Vrhnika
Abstract:
Supplementary activities on farms are recognised as a successful mechanism for economic and social stabilisation of agricultural holdings. They provide a solution for smaller, market-oriented farms, which dominate in the structure of Slovenian agriculture and are struggling to survive on income provided by core agricultural activities alone. In the bachelor thesis we focus on supplementary activities on farms in the Municipality of Vrhnika. Agricultural land covers 34 % of the municipalitiy's territory and it categorized as areas with natural constraints for agriculture. In 2023, 22 out of 509 Vrhnika's agricultural holdings engaged themselves in supplementary activities, which is fewer than in neighbouring municipalities. On average, these househols have 4 registred activities, 103 in total. Two thirds of them are services with agricultural and forestry machinery and manual work. Other groups of supplementary activities are less common. There is a significant deficit in activities of processing of primary agricultural produce and in the sale of agricultural produce and farm products. In order to collect data, necessary for our research, we made a survey among farmers in the municipality (N=40), visited local municipality and Agricultural advisory service. The most common reason for farms to engage in supplementary activities is an additional source of income. The main reason for the low number of registred activities is financially successful, but not officially registered, processing and sales on farms. A growing non-agricultural population increases market demand for local products and farm produce, herewith creates opportunities for developement in agriculture. Farmers identify the future mainly in the sale of agricultural produce and farm products, and in services with agricultural and forestry machinery.
