Bioremediacija morskih sedimentov onesnaženih z ogljikovodiki v dobi omike

Abstract
Ogljikovodiki, še posebno ogljikovodiki, ki izvirajo iz nafte, spadajo med najbolj razširjena onesnaževala, ki zaradi dogodkov kot so razlitja nafte, industrijski izpusti in ostale dejavnosti pridobivanja, predelave, skladiščenja in transporta nafte, vplivajo na morske ekosisteme. Kopičijo se v prehranjevalnih verigah, nekaj jih izhlapi, velik del slabše hlapnih komponent se zbira v tleh in sedimentih. Zaradi hidrofobne narave teh spojin sedimenti delujejo kot glavni ponor, saj se ogljikovodiki vežejo na trdne delce in tam ostanejo daljše obdobje. Onesnaženja ne ogrožajo le ekosistema in biote, temveč tudi zdravje ljudi in gospodarstvo. Bioremediacija v primerjavi z različnimi fizikalnimi in kemijskimi metodami predstavlja bolj učinkovit, cenovno dostopen in okolju prijazen način reševanja problema onesnaženja. Bioremediacijo izvajamo s pomočjo bakterij, gliv in mikroalg. Uporaba gliv ima prednost predvsem pri remediaciji morskih sedimentov zaradi sposobnosti prilagajanja na stresne razmere v okolju. Velik korak naprej so pri tehnikah bioremediacije omogočile različne omske tehnologije, kot so npr. genomika, proteomika in metabolomika. Te tehnologije omogočajo celovito razumevanje vključenih mikroorganizmov, njihovih vlog in mehanizmov delovanja. Prav tako pa nam omogočajo odkrivanje novih mikrobnih vrst s potencialom za bioremediacijo in sledenje spremembam znotraj mikrobne skupnosti tekom procesa. Vse te informacije so bistvenega pomena za izboljševanje uspešnosti in učinkovitosti procesov bioremediacije.

Title:Bioremediation of Marine Sediments Contaminated by Hydrocarbons in the Omics Era
Abstract:
Hydrocarbons, particularly petroleum hydrocarbons, are among the most widespread pollutants affecting marine ecosystems through events such as oil spills, industrial discharges and other oil extraction, processing, storage and transport activities. They accumulate in the food chain, some evaporate, and a large proportion accumulate in the soil and sediments. Due to the hydrophobic nature of these compounds, sediments act as an important sink as the hydrocarbons bind to solid particles and remain there for a longer period of time. Pollution threatens not only ecosystems and biota, but also human health and the economy. Compared to various physical and chemical methods, bioremediation is a more efficient, affordable and environmentally friendly way to address the problem of pollution. Bioremediation is carried out with the help of bacteria, fungi and microalgae. The use of fungi is particularly beneficial in the remediation of marine sediments as they can adapt to stressful environmental conditions. A major advance in bioremediation techniques has been made possible by various omic technologies such as genomics, proteomics and metabolomics. These technologies provide a comprehensive understanding of the microorganisms involved, their role and their mechanisms of action. They also allow us to discover new microbial species with potential for bioremediation and to track changes within the microbial community during the process. All this information is important to improve the performance and efficiency of bioremediation processes.
