The diploma thesis titled Comparison and Transfer of Photographic Techniques in Digital Textile Printing explores alternative photographic techniques such as lumen print and cyanotype. The aim of the thesis is to learn about these two techniques, their history and the selected artists who have used them for their expression. At the same time, the thesis also aims to learn how to use, and artistically reinterpret, these two techniques, i.e. to transfer them onto textiles by means of digital printing in the form of patterns that can also take on a useful purpose in textile design. The theoretical part therefore first explores the process of cyanotype and the work of the artist Anne Atkins, who was the first to use the cyanotype technique. It also introduces the lumen print process, its history and the artist Galine Kurlat, who works in this field. Lastly, we learn about installation art and Louise Bourgeois. We are also introduced to digital printing of paper and textiles, its history and its advantages. The creative part includes the process of making photograms of both techniques on photographic paper and textiles, designing textile patterns in Adobe Photoshop, setting up an art installation and designing art books, made of paper and textile. Each of these creative works is a complete entity on its own. Together they form an interesting group of unique expressions, all of which originally correspond to the title of the thesis.
