The thesis focuses on the development of a collection of patterns for decorative textiles that are part of an original modular furniture design. The inspiration for the textile patterns is Slovenian folklore and nature. The decorative textiles are produced in various textile printing techniques and in jacquard weaving. The theoretical part covers topics such as the definition and history of modular furniture and examples of contemporary modular furniture design. Printing techniques on different materials and the use of textiles in furniture are also presented. In the practical part, several printing techniques are tested with natural motifs derived from the tradition of gathering and woodcutting. These motifs are applied to modular furniture made of different materials such as wood, metal and textiles. The design of the furniture is based on modularity and the resulting textile patterns.
