It can be said that modern society can be a digital society, as digitalization and the use of new technologies transform business processes and improve company performance. Digitization is also present in the field of tolling, as manual toll systems have been replaced by electronic tolling systems, which pollute the environment less with exhaust gases. In addition, user costs are reduced in terms of time and fuel consumption. The digitization of the toll system in the Republic of Slovenia led to the introduction of an electronic vignette and, as a result, an online application for users and employees.
The purpose of the thesis is to study the impact of the introduction of digitization in the field of tolling. With the help of the descriptive method, we presented electronic tolling systems and described electronic tolling in some EU countries. We analysed the establishment of an electronic tolling system for passenger vehicles in the Republic of Slovenia and the introduction of an electronic vignette. In practice, it often happens that employees are not or only to a lesser extent involved in the process of introducing digitalization in the organization. For this reason, in the research work, we examined employee satisfaction with the use of the new application related to the introduction of the e-vignette and compared it with employee satisfaction with the old application, which was used for classic vignettes.
We found that employees are satisfied with the new application and have a positive user experience. However, they wrote that the application does not work flawlessly and that the application needs to be upgraded and updated. When comparing employee satisfaction with the new application compared to the old one, we found that we cannot compare the applications with each other because some employees did not use the old application. In addition, the new application concerns the digitization of the vignette system and the reorganization of the work process.
