In my thesis I focus on the use of color for the purpose of telling a story and setting the mood. I base my work on color symbolism and the theory of color psychology. I study how colors and their combinations have an impact on our emotions and experiencing the scenes in a comic. In the theoretical part of the thesis I research the symbolism and psychological effects of individual colors (red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple) and the relations between colors in the form of color chords and contrasts. On the base of this knowledge, I analyze the use of color in three different comics, and compare my findings. In the practical part I made my own comic, in which I presented the stages of grief by using color. When doing so, I focus on color symbolism and the emotions that colors invoke in us.
