The objective of final thesis was to design and manufacture a two-stroke cylinder from aluminium metal with the use of three-dimensional printing. With the use of modelling software, a model cylinder was designed and modified for casting. Based on the design in the modelling software, patterns were printed via three-dimensional printing and used for the construction of a sand-casting mould, which was then used for casting aluminium metal. Additionally, the casted cylinder was machined and used on the engine assembly. The practicality and speed of sand-casting mould production using three-dimensional printing was established. During the manufacturing process, previous errors were mitigated, the design in modelling software was optimized and with rapid prototyping technical improvements were introduced into the sand-casting mould to produce a perfected final product.
