Leisure time is an important commodity for students as it allows us to freely engage in activities that relax, entertain and facilitate personal development, making it easier to fulfil our daily obligations. The thesis presents the significance, quantity and ways of spending leisure time among students of the Faculty of Social Work.
The research has been based on a descriptive and quantitative methodology, using a structured electronic questionnaire. The sample has consisted of 96 students from the Faculty of Social Work Ljubljana.
From the research, I have been able to conclude that most of the students believe that leisure time is important to them. They most often use their phones in their leisure time whereas the lack of leisure time is the most common constraint when choosing leisure activities. Only a few of them frequently feel bored. They find the balance in their leisure time and spend it both, actively and passively. Consequently, the majority of them are satisfied with how they spend their free time. During the academic year, they perceive having little leisure time. More than half of them think that there are a lot of or too many obligations. However, they are satisfied with the amount of their leisure time. The faculty of Social Work does not sufficiently encourage them to engage in quality leisure activities. The participation in leisure activities organized by the faculty is very low. Occasionally, the lack of interest and the lack of free time are the reasons why the students do not choose these activities. Nevertheless, they are satisfied with the information, organization and the choice of activities at the faculty. They wish the faculty would organize more sports activities for them.
