This thesis compares the Wärtsilä Sulzer 92 RT-Flex engine with its predecessor, the RTA series. The first chapter describes and illustrates the engine performance. It also explains the different units that make up the RT-Flex engine. The second chapter focuses on the comparison of the RTA and the RT-Flex. Finally, I briefly describe the fuels that power the engines, as these are the most topical issue at the moment due to emissions and the resulting change in the atmosphere.
