Abstract

Title:Analysis of the coverage of charging stations for electric cars in western Slovenia : graduation thesis no.: 134/TUN
Abstract:
When we talk about electric cars, our first concern is the range of such cars, which in turn is linked to the time needed to charge the vehicles and the charging infrastructure. In this thesis, we have analysed the coverage of charging stations for electric cars at three levels in Slovenia. At the macro level of the whole country, at the meso level of the Goriška statistical region and at the micro, local level of selected locations in the Goriška statistical region. At these three levels, we analysed the correlation between the number of existing charging stations for e-vehicles and the factors representing the potential users element, which are thus strongly correlated with the search for new potential locations for the deployment of electric charging stations. At the macro level of Slovenia, we have analysed the locations and number of charging points. At the meso and micro levels of the Goriška statistical region, we have additionally analysed the charging capacity. We found that existing locations of electric car charging stations have a moderate to (very) strong statistical correlation with the number of inhabitants, the arrivals of commuter workers and the number of (electric) cars in the municipality (settlement), while the correlation of locations of electric charging stations with visitor arrivals (tourism) is almost insignificant or weak. This is true both for the macro level of Slovenia and for the meso level of the Goriška statistical region. Therefore, we have further analysed five local environments in the Goriška statistical region that are the most affected by tourist arrivals. At the local level, we have proposed some new locations for the installation of electric charging points.
