Ljubiteljska znanost na področju urbanega gozdarstva in naravovarstva v Sloveniji

Ljubiteljska znanost (LZ) je s pomočjo sodobne tehnologije v zadnjih nekaj letih postala vse bolj priljubljen mehanizem za množično zbiranje podatkov, v Sloveniji pa je ta pojem še dokaj slabo poznan. V diplomski nalogi so preverjeni glavni izzivi in ovire, s katerimi se koordinatorji LZ projektov soočajo in poznavanje LZ v Sloveniji. Narejen je bil pregled LZ projektov v zadnjem desetletju v Sloveniji na področju urbanega gozdarstva in naravovarstva, s pomočjo intervjujev in anketnega vprašalnika pa so bile preverjene glavne ovire pri izvedbi projektov in poznavanje LZ v javnosti. Ugotovljeno je bilo, da se največ LZ projektov v Sloveniji odvija na področju naravovarstva, večino vključevanja prostovoljcev v projekte pa poteka preko sporočanja lokacij določenih rastlinskih in živalskih vrst. Glavna ovira, s katero se koordinatorji projektov soočajo, je koordinacija aktivnosti med partnerji in deležniki projekta ter pomanjkanje zanimanja prostovoljcev za ljubiteljsko-znanstvene projekte. Izraz LZ je znan skoraj polovici prebivalstva, glavna razloga za nesodelovanje v projektih pa sta slaba informiranost ljudi o projektih ter pomanjkanje časa.

• Title: Citizen science in urban forestry and nature conservation in Slovenia

Abstract

Although the citizen science (CS) has become an increasingly popular mechanism for mass data collection in recent years with the help of modern technology, the concept is still relatively little known in Slovenia. The thesis explores the main challenges and obstacles faced by CS project coordinators, as well as knowledge about CS in Slovenia. An overview of CS projects in the last ten years in Slovenia in the field of urban forestry and nature conservation was made. Interviews and a questionnaire were used to review the main obstacles to projects' implementation and knowledge about CS among the public. It was found that most of the CS projects in Slovenia are implemented in the field of nature conservation and that most volunteers are involved in the projects by reporting the locations of certain plant and animal species. The main obstacle for project coordinators is the coordination of activities between project partners and stakeholders and the lack of interest of volunteers in CS projects. The term CS is known to almost half of the population and the main reasons for non-participation in projects are lack of information about projects and people's lack of time.
