In her master's thesis, the author focuses on the transformation of selected youth centers in Slovenia, which, taking into account the history of youth spaces, is gradually shifting its attention away from young people and towards children. The author problematizes the impact of institutionalization on the changed role of youth centers in Slovenia, focusing on the examples of the Celjski mladinski center, Mladinski center Žalec, Mladinski center Velenje, Javni zavod za kulturo, šport, turizem in mladinske dejavnosti Sevnica, Mladinski kulturni center Hiša mladih Ajdovščina, Javni zavod Mladi zmaji Ljubljana and Mladinski center Brežice. The author highlights some of the consequences of institutionalization, which include the professionalization of personnel; subordination of young people to the organizational structures of youth centers; encouraging young people in various forms of youth work, emphasizing the increase in voluntary activities; at the same time, the author is trying to figure out for what reason and in what way youth centers generated spaces, especially intended for children (and not youth).
