In the diploma thesis, we planned and took a series of photographs of the night sky and celestial bodies. We commented on the final reproductions and gave suggestions for improvements. In the theoretical part, we investigated astrophotography, the history of astrophotography, light pollution, and the process of photographing the night sky with a DSLR camera, as well as photographing a celestial body. In the experimental work, we took photos of celestial bodies with a Canon EOS 1-DX Mark 2 camera together with a tripod. In addition, we used two lenses, namely Canon EF 16-35 mm f/2.8 USM and Canon EF 70-200 mm f/2.8L IS II USM. Before that, we also described the process of planning and preparing for the photo shoot. We edited the photos to their final appearance using DeepSkyStacker, Sequator, StarNet, Adobe Photoshop 2023, and Adobe Lightroom Classic software. We successfully captured and edited all the photos, with which we are satisfied. With basic photographic equipment, we could only partially approach the results of dedicated astrophotographic equipment. We found that light pollution was a problem for us although there are no big cities in Slovenia. We also concluded that advance planning in astrophotography is crucial in capturing a good photo.
