Abstract
Pahljače in torbice so sestavljeni predmeti, ki služijo funkcionalnim in estetskim namenom. Razdelimo jih na zložljive pahljače in zaslone. Pahljače so bile skozi zgodovino namenjene pahljanju in neverbalni komunikaciji. Izdelane so bile iz dragocenih naravnih materialov, med katere sodijo pavja peresa, biserna matica, usnje mladih koz, slonovina, želvovina ter svila. Njihov zaton je povzročila uporaba sintetičnih materialov. Torbice služijo prenašanju lastnine in izražanju osebnega sloga.

Title:Making a knitted bag inspired by a hand fan from the Regional Museum Maribor
Abstract:
Fans and purses are complex objects that serve functional and aesthetic purposes. We divide them into folding fans and screens. Throughout history, fans were used for fanning and non-verbal communication. They were made of precious natural materials, including peacock feathers, mother-of-pearl, young goatskin, ivory, tortoise shell and silk. Their decline was caused by the use of synthetic materials. Bags are used to transport goods and express personal style. They include purses, large bags, sachets and backpacks. Most bags are made of natural and synthetic leather, polyamide fabric and cotton or linen canvas. Foldable knitted fabrics belong to the three-dimensional knitted structures that self-fold due to the arrangement of different types of loops. They may also contain elastane, textured or other highly shrinkable threads. The purpose of self-foldable knits is to adjust size for different uses, while also satisfying aesthetic needs. The aim of this research was to explore the history and use of fans, the history and use of bags and the characteristics of self-foldable knits, and to design a knitted purse that combines the features and appearance of a folding fan with elements of a bag.
