The term pragmatic idiom could not be found in Toporišič's work. However, the linguist was faced with some examples of pragmatic idioms in relation to issues of Slovene grammar and orthography. His interest in examples such as človek božji, pod nobenim pogojem, po mojem mnenju, če se ne motim, bog varuj, focused on the aspect of lexicology (set phrases), syntax (propositional modifications), communication (conversational routines) and orthography (one- or two-word spelling). In the article, those passages in Toporišič's work which expose the pragmatic segment of phraseology from a contemporary viewpoint are analysed and interpreted. The aim of the article is to update the grammatical knowledge about a selected group of multiword lexical units.
