Mobile Application for Learning of History of Cinema

A mobile application has been developed to serve as a tool for systematic and simple learning of different movements in the history of cinema. The goal of the application is to offer to the users a comprehensive approach in exploration of world cinema history. The motivation for creating this application was the desire to increase general knowledge on cinema by turning the attention of the public away from the films that are advertised and promoted by the contemporary movie industry. For each movement in the application, there can be found a description as well as a list of films that are suggested to the user for watching. It is expected that through watching these films the user will gain a better understanding of the movement in question. The application also provides information about each individual film, like the plot summary and the movie cast. Based on this, the user is supposed to gain insight into the film and also to decide which film he would like to see at a given moment. The user is able to then add each of these films to his watch-list, watched list and favorites list. Based on the favorite films of the user, the platform finds potential matches with other users which share a similar taste. Users that are similar can communicate with each other in a private chat room, to share their acquired knowledge and opinions on cinema. The list of similar users might change considering that with time taste can also change. Nevertheless the conversations are saved and the user can access them at any time. Users can also follow their progress in the discovery of films, in order to stimulate their motivation in the learning process. The application is available for Android and iOs.

• Title: Mobilna aplikacija za učenje zgodovine filma

Abstract

Mobilna aplikacija je bila razvita kot orodje za sistematično in enostavno učenje različnih obdobij v zgodovini kinematografije. Cilj aplikacije je uporabnikom ponuditi celovit pristop pri raziskovanju zgodovine svetovne kinematografije. Motivacija za ustvarjanje te aplikacije je bila želja po povečanju splošnega znanja o kinematografiji z odvračanjem pozornosti javnosti od filmov, ki jih oglašuje in promovira sodobna filmska industrija. Za vsako obdobje je v aplikaciji na voljo tako opis, kot tudi seznam filmov, ki so uporabniku predlagani za ogled. Pričakuje se, da bo uporabnik z ogledom teh filmov bolje razumel obravnavano obdobje. Aplikacija ponuja tudi informacije o vsakem posameznem filmu, torej povzetek zgodbe in igralsko zasedbo. Na podlagi tega dobi uporabnik vpogled v film in se tudi odloči kateri film si želi v danem trenutku ogledati. Uporabnik lahko vsakega od teh filmov tudi doda na svoj seznam filmov za ogled, seznam ogledanih in seznam priljubljenih. Platforma na podlagi uporabnikovih priljubljenih filmov najde morebitna ujemanja z drugimi uporabniki, ki imajo podoben okus. Uporabniki s podobnim okusom lahko med seboj komunicirajo v zasebni klepetalnici, kjer lahko delijo svoje pridobljeno znanje in mnenja o filmov. Pogovori se shranijo in uporabnik lahko dostopa do njih kadarkoli. Uporabniki lahko spremljajo tudi svoj napredek pri odkrivanju filmov, kar nadalje spodbuja njihovo motivacijo v učnem procesu. Aplikacija je na voljo za Android in iOS.
