In this Bachelor´s thesis I try to present some of the feminisms, mainly of the second wave, which began with the cultural revolution in the sixties of the 20th century. I mainly focus on feminist theories, which had a significant impact on the lives of women. Through a selection of some texts, I try to show how feminisms have been opening discursive space in society and have built social solidarity and a higher degree of social equality. I am also interested in their potential for further structural shifts. The cohesive thread of this research touches the issues of the multifaceted exploitation and oppression of women in modern (capitalist) society. I try to explain this with different approaches of Marxism, radical feminism and the feminist standpoint theory, which combines these two approaches. In the end, I turn to the issue of gender as a key category of scientific/sexual discourse, that degrades women in the social structure. I use the Foucault´s concept of power to help me explain the subtle social structures, which significantly affect the position and status of women in society.
