The main purpose of the thesis is the presentation and comparison of different flocculants and their influence on the sedimentation of solid particles in suspension. In the introductory and central part, various ways of cleaning technological water, the method of preparing mineral raw materials, and also the description of the washing plant and classification plant for further enrichment of the extracted ore are presented. The method of cleaning technological water after washing the mineral raw materials calcite and limestone with the help of flocculation is described in more detail. In the Stahovica quarry, solid particles are separated from the liquid phase using flocculation and sedimentation.
In the experimental part, we compared the influence of four different flocculants. The first two flocculants were taken from the Stahovica quarry (anionic), and the other two from the Marmor Sežana quarry (cationic). With the help of sedimentation tests according to the Kynch method, we read the position of the solid phase in the suspension as a function of time and thus see the influence of different flocculants on the particles in the technological water.
The conclusion is that sedimentation with the help of flocculants is influenced by the inlet concentration of the solid phase and the temperature of the process water, the concentration and type of prepared flocculant, its dosage, storage and age.
