This thesis examines the similarities and differences between public and commercial service media, more specifically the TV stations POP TV and SLO 1, and their news programmes Dnevnik and 24 ur respectively. The aim of the thesis is to identify the differences in the reporting practices of the two news programmes on the topic of coronavirus. The research addresses the issues of the difference in the coverage of the two programmes, the amount of time devoted by the two TV stations for the purpose of reporting on the topic of coronavirus, and other differences in content. We have found that there are differences in the amount of news broadcast by the two news programmes on the above topic, as well as that there are differences in the time devoted to the coronavirus on the two TV channels, while there are no significant differences in the content of the coverage.
