Abstract
Primerjalna analiza nekaterih relevantnih anatomskih (osnovno tkivo, traheje, aksialni parenhim in trakovi), drugih bioloških (tekstura, potek aksialnih elementov, tenzijski les, ojedritev, habitus), fizikalnih (gostota), kemičnih (pepel, silikati, p-H vrednost ) in mehanskih (tlačna in upogibna trdnost, E-modul in trdota ) lastnosti 9 centralnoafriških in več znanih komercialnih vrst je pokazala, da je mogoče iz podobnosti relevantnih lastnosti sklepati na podobnost obdelavnosti. Raziskane so bile naslednje vrste: Albizzia adianthifolia (Schumach.), Blighia Welwitschii (Hiern ) Radlk., Celtis zenkeri Engl., Detarium macrocarpum Harms., Gilbertiodendron dewevrei J. Leonard, Irvingia gabonensis Baill., Manilkara fouilloyana Aubrev. et Pellegr., Pachyleasma tessmanni Harrris, Xylopia hypolampsa Mildbr. et Diels.

Abstract:
Comparative analysis of some relevant anatomical (ground tissue, vessels, axial parenchyma, rays), other biological (texture, grain, tension wood, heart wood formation, habitus), physical (density), chemical (ash and silica content, pH value and mechanical (crushing strength, MOR, MOE, hardness) properties of 9 tropical hardwoods from Central Africa revealed that it is possible to predict the working properties by comparing relevant properties. Species investigated: Albizzia adianthifolia (Schumach.), Blighia Welwitschii (Hiern ) Radlk., Celtis zenkeri Engl., Detarium macrocarpum Harms., Gilbertiodendron dewevrei J. Leonard, Irvingia gabonensis Baill., Manilkara fouilloyana Aubrev. et Pellegr., Pachyleasma tessmanni Harrris, Xylopia hypolampsa Mildbr. et Diels.

Keywords:relevant wood properties, machinability, planing, turning, shaping, Central African hardwoods, Albizzia adianthifolia, Blighia Welwitschii, Celtis zenkeri, Detarium macrocarpum, Gilbertiodendron dewevrei, Irvingia gabonensis, Manilkara fouilloyana, Pachyleasma tessmanni, Xylopia hypolampsa
