Covid-19 iz perspektive spola : breme skrbstvenega dela medicinskih sester v žarišču epidemije

Covid-19 je virusna bolezen, ki jo povzroča SARS-CoV-2. Pandemija, v kateri smo se znašli_e vpliva na vse vidike javnega in zasebnega življenja in ima potencial, da poglobi številne predobstoječe ranljivosti posameznikov in posameznic. Predvsem je spremenila vsakdanja življenja medicinskih sester, ki so neposredno in posredno v stiku s pacienti_kami, ki so pozitivni_e na Covid-19 in jih postavila pred velik izziv. Študije predhodnih epidemij in Covid-19 pandemije, vse bolj prikazujejo pomembnost vključevanja perspektive spola pri oblikovanju zaščitnih politik ter razumevanju izkušenj medicinskih sester in posledic bolezni. Raziskovalci_ke vse bolj odkrivajo izkušnje zdravstvenih delavcev in delavk, še vedno pa imamo pomanjkanje raziskav, ki upoštevajo, kako spol vpliva na njihove osebne izkušnje. Glede na to, da imamo po vsem svetu enak trend, kjer je večina zdravstvenih delavcev_k ženskega spola, se nam zdi raziskovanje skozi perspektivo spola in osredotočenost na izkušnje medicinskih sester ključnega pomena. Kadar v raziskavo vključimo še spolne vloge, vidimo, da je vloga skrbnice, ki jo opravljajo ženske izrednega pomena, saj ženske pogosto prevzemajo večino bremena in tveganja tako ob skrbi za obolele doma kot znotraj zdravstvenih ustanov. Namen magistrske naloge je izpostaviti perspektivo medicinskih sester, zaposlenih v žarišču epidemije Covid-19 v Sloveniji. Skozi izvedene intervjuje bomo opisovale, kakšne so bile izkušnje in psihofizična obremenjenost pri medicinskih sestrah, ki so bile neposredno izpostavljene virusu SARS-CoV-2.

• Title: Covid-19 from a gender perspective : the burden of caring for nurses at the epicenter of the epidemic

Abstract

Covid-19 is a viral disease caused by SARS-CoV-2. The pandemic, in which we found ourselves affected many aspects of public and private life and has the potential to deepen many preexisting vulnerabilities of individuals. Above all, it changed the daily lives of nurses who are in direct and indirect contact with patients who are positive for Covid-19 and presented them with a great challenge. Studies of previous epidemics and the Covid-19 pandemic showed us the importance of including a gender perspective in the design of protective policies and understanding nurses' experiences and consequences of the disease. Researchers are increasingly uncovering the experiences of health workers, but we still have a lack of research that considers how gender affects their personal experiences. Considering that we have the same trend all over the world, where the majority of health workers are women, we believe that researching gender and focusing on the experiences of nurses is crucial. When gender roles are also included in the research, we see that the role of caretaker performed by women is extremely important, as women often assume most of the burden and risk their health both when caring for the sick at home and within medical institutions. The purpose of this master's thesis is to highlight the perspective of nurses working in the epicenter of the Covid-19 epidemic in Slovenia. Through the conducted interviews, we will describe the experiences and psychophysical burden of nurses who were directly exposed to the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
