The master’s thesis researches the quality of life of adults with intellectual disabilities, older than 26 years, who live at home in the area of the Savinja region. The research work is based on the social model and theories from the field of handicap, but mostly, it includes the voice of people with intellectual disabilities, who had the main role in the research. The main place of the research is reserved for people with intellectual disabilities, their daily life in the domestic environment, the attitude of society towards them, how they experience their life at home, their inclusion in the narrow and wider environment, their relations with relatives, work, spare time, material position, partnership, health issues, the role of parents and access to services.
