Abstract
Prebivalci slovenskih dežel so bili z gorami povezani skozi celotno zgodovino, zato so te v času oblikovanja slovenske nacionalne identitete v drugi polovici 19. stoletja prevzele pomembno vlogo narodnega simbola. Magistrska naloga govori o razvoju slovenskega planinstva do 1. svetovne vojne, v sklopu katerega posebno pozornost namenja gradnji in delovanju planinskih koč.

Title:Development of Slovenian mountaineering with an emphasis on the construction and operation of mountain huts until the First World War
Abstract:
The inhabitants of Slovenian lands have been associated with mountains throughout history, which is why they assumed an important role as a national symbol during the formation of the Slovenian national identity in the second half of the 19th century. With the aim of keeping them in Slovenian hands, the Slovenian Mountaineering Society [Slovensko planinsko društvo] was founded in Ljubljana in 1893. This triggered an interethnic struggle between Slovenian and German mountaineering, in which the Slovenian Mountaineering Society immediately began marking Slovenian mountain routes and erecting mountain huts. As early as 1894, Orožn's hut [Orožnova koča] was first built on Planina za Liscem under Črna prst, followed by Kocbek's hut [Kocbekova koča] on Molička planina. The Slovenian Mountaineering Society continued to strengthen and expand its activities, paying special attention to the construction and maintenance of new mountain huts, the number of which had grown significantly by the First World War. The master's thesis deals with the development of Slovenian mountaineering up to the First World War, paying special attention to the construction and operation of mountain huts. It is based on relevant existing literature and, in particular, on articles from the Planinski vestnik mountaineering journals, which were published during the period under consideration.
