Increasing traffic growth affects the development of Slovenia’s economy. Development of
transport infrastructure enables adaptation to rapid changes in global traffic. Slovenia has a
good geostrategic location and road network. We have good connections mainly to southern
and eastern Europe. Advantages in connection with the rest of the world they also show in the
development of our only port, Luka Koper. However, despite this we are experiencing
problems with the flow of goods. In the past, most investments were earmarked road
infrastructure, which today is evident in non-competitive railway traffic, and resulting in
congestion and bottlenecks in road traffic. All this directly affects economy of the country
and inhibits the development and growth of the port, and Slovenia will be a case in point
improper action lost a lot of cargo. Therefore, in the future it is necessary to be careful and
define measures by individual transport branches in a planned manner. The latter will be
insured smooth flow of goods, which will be time and cost efficient and environmentally
friendly. At the same time properly implemented projects will enable Slovenia's
competitiveness and its growth economy. First, it is necessary to focus on the railway
infrastructure. However, it is necessary to be aware that the transport network can be
effective only in case of correct and even development of each branch separately.
