Abstract
Debelost v otroštvu povezujejo z debelostjo v odraslosti.

Title:The impact of overweight and obesity on the mental health of children and adolescents and the nurses roll : diploma work
Abstract:
Introduction: Overweight and obesity often occur in childhood. They are a chronic disease that contributes to other diseases and a high mortality rate. Both diseases are more common among socio-economically disadvantaged individuals. Adult obesity is often associated with childhood obesity and is the cause of a variety of adult illnesses, such as cardiovascular disease. Purpose: The purpose of this thesis is to investigate, with the help of relevant scientific literature, how overweight and obesity affect the mental health of children and adolescents and to figure out the role of the health care workers. Methods: In the diploma work we used a descriptive method of work, with which we reviewed the scientific literature. We reviewed domestic and foreign scientific literature on overweight, obesity and the impact on mental health in children and adolescents. Results: We found that there is a link between obesity and mental health. After reviewing the literature, we find that the nurse's role is largely based on raising awareness among adolescents about mental health. Discussion and conclusion: Depression and obesity are the leading public health problems of adolescents. Existing research largely finds the existence of a statistical link between overweight and obesity on the one hand and mental health problems on the other. It would be very useful for researchers in the future to focus on discovering the cause-and-effect relationships between these phenomena, as the discovery of these would make it possible to improve screening tests, preventive and curative programs.
