Abstract

Title:Generative Metrics and Slovenian Verse
Abstract:
Based on the basic generative metric theories presented in the first part of the thesis, it tries to answer the question of the applicability of generative metrics for the analysis of Slovenian verse. The introduction is devoted to the presentation of generative phonology, from which generative metrics derive theoretically and methodologically. The second part includes an attempt at a generative metric analysis of Prešeren's and Kette's iambic pentameter, and for the purposes of this thesis, statistical verse analyses have also been carried out, thus complementing the already existing knowledge on the Slovene iambic pentameter.

Keywords:Slovene literature, Slovene poetry, Slovene poets, versology, generative phonology, generative metrics, generative metric analysis, Slovenian verse, iambic pentameter, France Prešeren, Dragotin Kette
