Undergraduate thesis with title Youth Homelessness in Slovenia, attempts to illuminate the issue of youth homelessness in Slovenia. The goal is to define homelessness, explain different types of homelessness, how homelessness is experienced by young people, in particular young LGBTIQ+ people. The thesis reveals why youth homelessness occurs and what are the experiences of individuals who find themselves in such situations in Slovenia. The task thus moves away from the stereotypical representatives of the homeless as people who have problems with drugs and alcohol, as well as lazy individuals and individuals who live on state subsidies. The reasons for homelessness are highly individual, although we could highlight some of the most common ones, such as unemployment, mental health problems, disability and addiction, could be highlighted. However, it is important to recognise that the causes for adult and youth homelessness are different. Some of the causes are present in both groups, but for youth homelessness, and in particular for LGBTIQ+ youth, the most common causes are domestic violence, sexual and physical abuse, homophobia and family conflicts.
