In my diploma The Marxist critique of NATO, I dealt with the analysis of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation over time, its ideas at the unfolding events in the international community. I did an overview all the way from its founding in 1949 at the Cold War to 2022, when its latest form of strategic concept was released. NATO was founded in Western countries, which were all mainly liberal democracies, so the organization operates according to this diction. The North Atlantic Treaty is based on the UN Security Council and binds countries to a political-military alliance of sovereign states that strive for the peaceful resolution of disputes, human rights and initially represented a force against the communist allies.
I read Marx's book Kapital I. for the critique part in order to know how to better explain the core of Marxist political theory. At first glance, the political theory on the basis of which NATO is designed and the one on the basis of which I built my critique seem to be completely different, but the critique does not necessarily completely deny the organization. Criticism of NATO poses a challenge to the organisation in a world of a renewed security crisis and a security breakdown at the door of Western society.
