The thesis deals with New Age spirituality in the Slovenian context, using the example of the organisation Duhovni atelje Potovanja duše (Spiritual Atelier of the Journey of the Soul). New age spirituality is an eclectic and syncretic contemporary religious phenomenon. It adopts and merges ideas and practices from different religious traditions interpreting them in a specific New Age way, guided by a holistic and cosmocentric worldview. The New Age movement emerged in the West in the 1960s and in Slovenia about two decades later as a response to the social changes brought about by the modern era. It soon established itself as an alternative to traditional religions. Today, New Age influences are also found in health care, business, education, and politics, which shows how widely its ideas were accepted. In this thesis, I explore the ideas and activities of the Slovenian organisation Duhovni atelje Potovanja duše. Through participant observation and a semi-structured interview with the organisation’s founder, I try to demonstrate that this organisation is an example of New Age spirituality. The research results suggest that the organisation possesses several characteristics that can be considered New Age.
