Diploma focuses on the overview of the causes and course of the Croatian War of Independence between 1991-1995, with throughout focus on the relations between Croats and Serbs. The latter have been living in large numbers in the area of today's Republic of Croatia for centuries, so it is not surprising that they became a key element of the conflict during the war. Initially, it was an internal (ethnic) conflict between Croats and Serbs, in which the national question was essential. In 1991, when Croatia declared its independence from the SFRY, the conflict grew into a large-scale military conflict between the Croatian and Serbian sides. The diploma offers an outline of what happened from 1980, when hidden national tendencies came to surface again, until 1995, when the armed action of the Croatian military and police forces ended. A special focus in the diploma is on the presentation of the leading politicians of each side at that time, namely Franjo Tuđman and Slobodan Milošević. At the same time, it also focuses on the influence of propaganda on the tightening of Croatian-Serbian relations. With the help of the survivors' memories, a view from "below" is presented, and with the help of Slovenian newspapers, a view of the other side.
