Vpliv staranja površin lesa pred in po obdelavi z železovim(II) sulfatom

Abstract
Les na prostem je izpostavljen različnim dejavnikom, kar povzroča sivenje oziroma staranje lesa. Procesi staranja so glede na izpostavitev lahko zelo različni. Deli lesa, ki niso izpostavljeni padavinam npr. so pod napuščem so manj izpostavljeni zato so procesi staranja počasnejši. Spremembo barve lahko pospešimo s pripravki na osnovi železovih ionov. Tako les hitro in enakomerno spremni bravo v sive tone. Vendar je barva po obdelavi z železom odvisna tudi od predhodnega staranja lesa. V naši raziskavi smo spremljali spremembo barve glede na staranje in obdelavo. Vzorce smo pred obdelavo starali na prostem za različna časovna obdobja in jih nato obdelali s 5 % raztopino železovega(II) sulfata. Vzorce smo obdelali tako, da smo jih za 10 sekund potopili v raztopino železovega(II) sulfata in nato 24 ur kondicionirali, preden smo jih izpostavili vremenskim vplivom. Drugi del eksperimenta smo ugotavljali vpliv padavin na spremembo barve. Ugotovili smo, da čas predhodnega staranja vpliva na spremembo barve, saj so vzorci starani 5 tednov dosegli najbližjo barvo naravno staranemu lesu. Pri spremljanju vpliva padavin smo ugotovili, da padavine vplivajo na spremembo barve, saj so izpostavljeni vzorci intenzivneje in hitreje spremenili barvo od ne izpostavljenih.

Title:Influence of weathering of wood surfaces before and after treatment with iron(II) sulphate
Abstract:
Outdoor wood is exposed to various factors, which causes greying or aging of the wood. Aging processes can be very different depending on the exposure. Parts of wood that are not exposed to external factors, e.g., they are under the eaves, are less exposed and therefore the aging process is slower. This can be accelerated by solutions based on iron ions. Thus, the wood turns grey quickly and evenly. However, the colour after iron treatment also depends on the previous aging of the wood. In our research, we monitored the change in colour depending on aging and processing. Before treatment, the samples were aged in the open air for different periods of time and then treated with a 5% solution of iron(II) sulphate. The samples were treated by immersion in the solution for 10 seconds and conditioned for 24 hours before exposure. Some of the samples were exposed to precipitation, where we determined the influence of precipitation on the colour change. We found that the aging time affects the colour change, as samples aged 5 weeks reached the closest colour to naturally aged wood. When monitoring the impact of precipitation, we found that precipitation affects the colour change, as the exposed samples changed colour more intensively and faster than the unexposed ones.
