Abstract

Title:Sustainable beekeeping in Slovenia: An example of a turn towards sustainability in a traditional practice
Abstract:
Sustainable beekeeping in Slovenia is defined by the requirements of the certificate, in which the obligations of sustainable beekeepers are strictly defined. Sustainable beekeepers decided for this sustainable form of a traditional Slovenian practice most commonly because of their wish for ecologically-produced, irreproachable bee products, use of ecological substances for treating pests and disease in bees. They also share a close connection to their bees and nature. Sustainable beekeeping as an example of the turn towards sustainable agricultural practices shows people’s changing attitude towards nature in view of weather and environmental changes taking place and worsening the conditions for further wasteful resource management.
