Abstract
Splošne knjižnice dandanes predstavljajo izobraževalni, kulturni in družbeni prostor.

Title:Comparison of recommended reading lists for adults in Slovenian central regional libraries
Abstract:
Today, public libraries represent an educational, cultural and social space. Their task is also to promote a reading culture in their environment. This can be achieved with recommended lists that introduce quality literature, that is present on the reading market. The purpose of the diploma paper was to compare the recommendation lists for adults available at Slovenian central regional libraries. We compared nine recommended lists from the websites of the central regional libraries and two recommendation lists that were made as part of the reading projects Primorci beremo and Korošci pa bukve beremo. We analyzed how many central regional libraries have their online recommendation list, what is the ratio between Slovenian and foreign authors, which literary genres appear on them, how many units are on each recommended list, the number of recommended lists that contain a description of the content and pictures of book covers. We determined that eight central area libraries have an adult recommendation list on their website. Five recommendation lists contain only Slovenian authors, while six recommendation lists contain Slovenian and foreign authors. The recommended lists include various types of literary genres, social and biographical novels are the most common.
