The thesis presents an example of the preservation of the Solkan speech in the work Soukan an Sukenci u sukenščini, written by prof. Katarina Vuga. I will compare the voice recording prepared by Mr. Jernej Zavrtanik with the scientific one and transcribe. The first part describes the circumstances that influenced the formation of the local speech. The most important factors described are the following: the history of Solkan, the location, the main landmarks that shape the place, the traffic, the development of tourism and the famous Solkan residents. In the main part, the local speech is placed in the appropriate dialect group and dialect. Special emphasis is given to the ways of preserving the speech in the place. The local people's concern for the preservation of the speech is identified, which is evident in particular from the numerous records, books, etc. The most important works are: the collection of papers published on the occasion of the thousandth anniversary of the first mention of the place, entitled Jako stara vas na goriškem je Solkan, the newspaper 1001, and Soukan an Sukenci u sukenščini, which is also a fundamental work of my research. This is followed by a transcribed transcript of the story told by Mr. Jernej Zavrtanik. A selection of text from the larger collection Soukan an Sukenci u sukenščini, which brings together the history of the place, the testimonies of the locals and the stories of how they used to live. The story is about carpentry in Solkan, which was considered one of the main professions and was the main source of income for many. A dictionary of dialect terms has also been produced; this contains a recorded cue, the dialect pronunciation of the word, a suggested simplified technical notation, a definition of the word type where appropriate, a literary equivalent, an example of usage in context and appearance in the dictionaries on the Fran portal.
