3D-models and 3D-animations have become increasingly popular in recent years in many industries such as gaming, meechanical engineering, aerospace, architecture, medicine, and a growing segment is represented by marketing. Following the trend of the development of large industries, 3D-modeling has reached education. 3D-models and simulations help pupils and students to better understand complex materials such as the human anatomy. The aim of this thesis is to create a realistic 3D-model of the human heart and to create an animation of the heartbeat. In this thesis, the theoretical part deals with the exterior of the heart, its parts and the heartbeat, and the concept of 3D-animation and its application in education is defined. The steps involved in creating a realistic 3D-model of the human heart are presented. First 2D sketches, then modeling the parts of the heart, joining these parts, texturing and animating it in Blender. Finally, a realistic representation of a simulated heartbeat is obtained. This animation can serve pupils, students and anyone interested in what a human heartbeat really looks like.
